Shim Research
Group
Welcome to the Shim research group
home page.
Our
research interests span a broad range of
disciplines from materials synthesis to nanoelectronic
devices. Our
research revolves around nanoscale
materials with unique electronic and optical
properties. We are particularly interested in low dimensional materials
such as
colloidal quantum dots and carbon nanotubes.
Members
of the Shim research group utilize a variety
of different methods/techniques including CVD and wet chemical
syntheses, TEM,
SEM, AFM, XRD, XPS, electron transport measurements, optical and Raman
spectroscopy, and micro/nanofabrication in carrying out their research. There are several on-going
collaborations
with research groups within and outside the department of materials
science and
engineering as well as in other institutions.
